Website path Search
Measure and improve
A baseline and one improvement.
Example brief
After a few weeks live, you want to know what people searched and which change to make first.
An example. Use your own idea next.
Steps
- Pick one page and one search you want to do better for. shows these once a site is live.
- Write down what you expect a change to do, for example 'more from the same '.
- Ask for that one change, such as a clearer title or description, building on your last version.
- Compare the versions in the audit, then check the real numbers again in a few weeks.
What you will learn
- Search Console
- A free tool showing which queries show your pages and which get clicks.
- Impressions vs clicks
- Many impressions with few clicks usually means a weak title or description, not a weak page.
- Iteration loop
- Pick one change, make it, wait a couple of weeks, compare. Changing five things hides what worked.
A sample prompt
Build a one-page site for Green Street Bakery with a clearer title and description for the search 'custom birthday cakes', which gets impressions but few clicks. Keep sections for bread, cakes and ordering, short sentences, and a button that says 'Order a birthday cake'.
Write yours first, then compare.
To complete it
Pass all 6 checks on one version, then accept.
