Glossary / HTTPS
HTTPS: what it means
The secure version of a web address, shown with a padlock. It keeps what visitors send private.
How it shows up when you build
- Go live: Encrypted connections are standard. Hosts issue certificates automatically for the domains you connect.
- Go-live checklist: The padlock. It encrypts traffic between visitor and site and is expected by browsers and search engines.
A tip
- Choose a host that deploys from a git repository so every change is versioned.
- Check the trademark and the name before you buy a domain.
Practise it
Build it with an AI tool and check the result in these exercises:
- 9. Go live (Publish to a free subdomain)
