Glossary / Hallucination
Hallucination: what it means
When an AI states something that sounds right but is made up, such as opening hours nobody gave it.
Also written: hallucinations, made-up facts, invented.
How it shows up when you build
- Check the AI's work: Models state invented details confidently: hours, prices, awards. Treat every specific as unverified.
A tip
- Tell the model: 'If a fact is missing, write [YOUR HOURS HERE] instead of guessing.'
Practise it
Build it with an AI tool and check the result in these exercises:
- 8. Check the AI's work (Spot errors and made-up facts)
- 5. Write the words (Headline, offer, call to action)
- 7. Ready for strangers (Launch basics)
